W Hotel and Residences

Pompano Beach, Florida

KORA was engaged to redesign the façade of this $1 billion project while maintaining the existing massing and unit layouts as provided by the architect of Record, Nichols Architects. The client sought a contemporary design that embodies the bold and sophisticated character of the W Hotels brand, tailored to its Pompano Beach setting. KORA’s approach focused on creating a simple yet cohesive design for this large-scale development, enhancing its inviting presence at ground level while imparting a sense of visual lightness as the structure ascends.

The design employs two primary material tones to distinguish the façade, giving the impression that the tower floats above the podium, which appears to slide beneath it. Balconies serve both the hotel and residential units, while the podium incorporates screened parking. At the ground level, expansive glazing creates a welcoming atmosphere for visitors.

The W Pompano Beach was an excellent collaborative effort with KORA serving as the design architect and Nichols Architects acting as the Architect of Record.
