Sky Green is a residential tower in Taipei, enveloped in a ribbon-like lattice, establishing a distinct yet unified facade. It acts as a frame for a large green terrace connected to each unit, a distinct in-between zone merging the surrounding site and interior of the building. Sky Green exemplifies the integration of nature into the vastly expanding, dense, and often overbuilt urban environments. Here the architecture is defined by the thickening of the building envelope as a means to an enhanced quality of life.
The external facade being separated from the internally windowall of the layouts allows for more subtle variation in the units for a diverse range of residential products. The facade material is a GFRP for a lightweight surface that can have a reduced impact on the structure.
Each horizontal band is associated with every other floor thus reducing the balcony area within the building as a whole to provide outdoor space without excessive impact on the floor area.
