The Metro Stop design for Jeddah is a prototype for the aboveground stations found throughout the city. The primary goal was to generate an image of the overground infrastructure for the city which can take on an iconic status for the extended city as a whole. As the metro system becomes one of the infrastructural backbones of the city, the overground stations would become a design for the public scattered as a decentralized design. The overground station would be covered to provide protection from the elements, and further would provide accessibility for an inclusive design approach. The overall design also allows for tremendous design flexibility while maintaining the general iconic look as most stations have variation from one to the other. The prototype’s adaptable design to the various station conditions is the preeminent feature of the project.
