The contemporary design of The Maritime City Tower by Deyaar is set to be an iconic landmark that would set the stage of development to come in the area. We approached this project as needing a highly evocative design that would be cost effective in construction and highly efficient in layouts.
Due to the large scale of the project, the goal was to design a tower that would have a slender appearance from all angles. The mass was thus conceived as 3 arms around a central core for maximum efficiency, yet slender in elevation. Part of the approach was to pull from the history of Dubai by harkening back to the Burj Khalifa and its 3 arm approach. This also reduces the number of cores required which we further split vertically to improve efficiency and allow the tower to get smaller as it rises. On top of each arm is an amenity included to heighten the experience of the project. The facade design was conceived as an enlarged net to give connection to the maritime fishing history of Dubai. The same facade module is reduced in scale and applied as a mesh to the parking to have design language parity between the tower and podium.
